50 years of discontinuation of funicular sections 2 and 3

On September 1, 1974, the funicular transported guests to the Stanserhorn for the last time. After that, the operation of sections 2 and 3 was discontinued forever and replaced by an aerial cableway.

We celebrated the 50th anniversary of this closure on Sunday, November 3, 2024 on the Stanserhorn under the motto “Do you remember?”. This included six short films featuring contemporary witnesses and their stories about the old funicular:
