The Stanserhorn is the local mountain of Stans, the cantonal capital of Nidwalden, just 13 minutes by train or 15 minutes by car from Lucerne. The valley station is a 5-minute walk from Stans railway station. The journey from the valley station up the Stanserhorn via the middle station takes 24 minutes.
The train and restaurant are wheelchair accessible.
It takes 13 minutes to get from Lucerne railway station on the Zentralbahn railway to Stans (Lucerne – Stans – Engelberg route).
To benefit, book your „high savings ticket“ prior to your whole trip right from the railway station up to the top of Mount Stanserhorn.
Traveling with a group? SBB (Train Company of Switzerland) has many attractive group offerings which will include the train ride up to Mount Stanserhorn. It is worth your while to check it out; in addition, you can travel worry free, as your whole trip is taken care of when it comes to ticketing.
From Lucerne Bahnhofquai to Beckenried. Enjoy the journey closer and closer to the Alpine mountains. In Beckenried, take the PostBus to Stans railway station. The journey via Beckenried takes about 2 hours.
Another beautiful route for travelling by boat is from Lucerne Bahnhofquai to Stansstad. Then take the Zentralbahn railway from Stansstad to Stans. The journey takes 75 minutes.
The SBB day ticket is valid on the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company (SGV) and on the Stanserhorn Railway.
A beautiful cycle path leads from Lucerne along Lake Lucerne to Stans. Free cycle parking is available at the valley station and at the Kälti middle station. There is also a Nextbike station at the valley station.
The Stanserhorn has no bike facilities. No bikes are transported.
Take the A2 freeway to the Stans-Nord exit. Follow the signs to the parking lot Gemeindeparkplatz Turmatt or Bahnhofparking. The valley station of the Stanserhorn cable car is located in the center at Stansstaderstrasse 19. From Lucerne you can reach Stans in about 15 minutes. From the parking lots you can reach the valley station by foot in 5 minutes.
The number of parking spaces is limited and all car parks are subject to a charge. Travelling by public transport is worthwhile and highly recommended.
The trip up the mountain starts at the funicular train terminus in Stans. Wheelchair and rollator users will not have a problem changing between the funicular and the CabriO cable car at Kälti intermediate station. At the summit, a wheelchair accessible restroom is available by the terrace. The Stanserhorn revolving restaurant is accessible via a ramp. Please contact us if more than two visitors are wheelchair users.
Your guests travel by car directly to the valley station in Stans. 3 car parking spaces are available at our valley station.
